how many cathedrals and churches, abbeys and chapels
i have slipped in to -if only for the art and music and silence therin
a door opens(large wooden frame-we slip in
a pump organ playing with a trumpeter accompanying
we stand, witnessing(they neither see nor hear us
when they finish,we applaud with respect and leave
to seek the living music on these streets
here a Monsignori Theatre in Boulogne where Didiere Malherbe performed
to scattered French applause-outside a mall of cafes and restaurants
celebrating conversation
inside this huge church,an organ playing Bach
wrecked walls and blackened paint-an altar with a huge crucifix
the music heals all wounds-all wars around religion
parents and children in strollers sit and stare at parents and children in strollers here
their voices are music.it plays -a universal language.the streets are singing...
