let them ring!

stone fences

he is learning stone fences-
the art of assembling stone to keep sheep in
and foxes out.Centuries have piled stones/made fences between us
Walls and fences divide both ownership and titles.Wars make walls
to define and divide us from each other.He is young enough to see
how houses made of stone defeat winters of discontent and freeze,
how homes of stone will shelter all and every and each
how the materials of age are used to keep all young warm
how we are sometimes made of stone.He learns
by watching and example.Perfection can wait.
He is young enough to ses how fences outlast we
whose time upon this rock is only temporary.
He has time,learns in time,as walls rise around him
Soon he will be made of stone,and will assemble his life by hand
and a home will be built around him.He is art.Life loves him.
