DEATH OF A GROCERY STORE

Started with Ma and Pop corner store
where everything was on sale(at high prices)
and stock was often mildewed, rusty, out of date
Next -a shiny new supermarket opened up...
Novelty Value! CHEAPER PRICES!(bought in bulk!
Ma &Pa sold up and moved on-new stores moved in
competing for a market that wanted cheap and fresh and new
You see the disappointment once the loss leaders were tossed
and prices rose with no competition
Stores bought out other stores, then closed them down
City prices soon despaired our town
soon even Big Block Bargains will shut down

LAST DAY @SPROUTS(Brodie Lane
I was there @the opening-free bags of SPROUTS groceries
Samples as generous as the opening of Central Market and Whole Foods
I knew the Manager by first name(it was on his label)
and shopped Wednesdays for DOUBLE COUPONS
When they took over Sun Harvest,i regretted the loss of a friendly small store
(i had always wanted TRADER JOES to move in from San Diego)
One store had to go.30% off-so i go back to SPROUTS
50% off-i buy more out of nostalgia.Last Day! 75% off-vultures empty shelves
till only high dollar items resist easy purchase.Empty now-gone like ALBERTSONS
Ma and Pa replaced by organic co-ops replaced by Corporate Franchise Management
Start small.Stay smaller. You can always be TOO SMALL TO FAIL!
