we know each other far too well
to ever pretend perfection-here we are-
tired,worn,weary optimists-in a dysfunctional whirl
where logic and rationality has long evaporated
and all we have are soap opera reality show characters
acting out simplistic scenarios with no clues
as to their origins or destinations
Wisdom is wanting.Elders are dying.People are crying
for solutions to be found.Singers of the 60's are now 60
and their grand children ask them questions they can not answer
Why volunteer for wars?Why endless wars?Who is next?
Is war a distraction from peace?Who sets the agenda?
Those in power are younger than we are.
We dare not blame our reflection.They are enacting our cliches
When we wake up-it will be with them
There is no one left to blame.We are all in this together
And we must OCCUPY our space and time
with 99% of those who may not agree
with anything we say or do.
