Writers' Sanctuaries are Sacred Points of Pilgrimage-
Shakespeare &Co example for City Lights
in times when books were doorways /portals to other worlds
and writers were regarded as outlaws and saints
Patrons are rare,so poets themselves
become Springs for Inspiration
and their journeys often included homes of other writers
I went to Joyce's Tower in Dublin,Dicken's House in London
W B Yeats tower in Connemara-much like the Beats
went to the graves of their predecessors-and we to their bones
to seek the consolation that comes from fellow travelers-
a conversation transcending time, space ,income and limits.
I found the tomb of warrior Bard Ossian in Northern Ireland-
he was buried on the top of a high hill-with a 360 degree posthumous view
of magnificent Ireland.Others were buried near to their poet-
much as we draw near to those who inspire us-
by word,deed,book,poem,song or life
Shakespeare &Company includes every one of us!
