let them ring!

i am sorry Robert Frost(woods and water have already lost

our little village pays for fluoride to be added to water today
our trees are dying in the drought
roads dissect our wounded town
ring roads ringworm gridlock round
only police cars come in black and white

i am sorry Langston Hughes
our Renaissance is out of view
we have F1,and APPLE 2
valet parking condominiums,too

i am sorry Walt Whitman
men cannot marry in this town
women need a sonogram
before contemplating abortion

i am sorry Adrienne Rich
Womens Rights are in the ditch
Monuments and memorials
are all we have for Civil Rights

i apologize poets of the past
we have forgotten your bright spark
we praise you in our newspapers
only because you are not here to harass us
