there are plenty to choose from-
gods of wood and thunder,sea and storm
old gods-tricksters,pranksters-new gods(Bacchus,Dionysius-
gods who shapeshift ,change form and essence
so they never appear the same way twice
i do not have a god(there are so many
i get confused(which one is god of mercy?compassion?
where is a god of gentle humor?(the joke seems to be on us-
what with suicide religious bombers
and religious haters/it becomes hard to see a soft god under us
so i settle for softer human beings-
for the miracle of harmonies between us
kindness,goodwill,intelligent altruisms
actions that redeem-like when the truck in front of me
stopped abruptly to hand food and drink to a heated homeless
you know what you do,i do not need a god or a goddess
just kindness.truth,beauty,loving relationships-
all human skills-more than any one god could handle
more than any one book or film
your one life as example
it is enough.let gods watch..
