when i left,i took a part of you
it resides with me now/i chew
upon the fat of memories/gnaw bones of contention
digest what passes between us
mulch over what can be applied
compost detritus.I carry each winged word
every miniature smile/kindnesses/goodwill
the way you walk that extra mile
the possibility of transformation
which resides within this sheltered moment
(there is no other but what is now-even when so much remembering
evokes a cloud of unknowing responses..
I left but did not leave/at night,in dreams,repeat
to understand-and(even if i do not-
it seems enough to take what i could integrate
place it lovingly like a child between these lines
so it might grow and take both form and shape
and resemble what we both could relate to-
it is not what we take from moments
it is what we add to...
