last night i watched and re-watched films of Kennedy's murder
there were 12 short ones -all shot from different angles
the Zapruder one slowed down ,others digitally enhanced
red splatter from one of the three shooters triangulating
over and over like watching BREATHLESS or BATTLESHIP POTEMKIN
or CITIZEN KANE or SEVEN SAMURAI or THE PROFESSIONAL
or any other filmed novel that enhances WUTHERING HEIGHTS or JANE EYRE
These loves of literature once aflamed my eyes/eye return when
new digital effects are all bombs and bombast/echoing emptiness
They have just made a new silent movie with French stars
They forget it is not the absence of words-
more the magical images that allow us to follow
Each page of a book is a walking tour for the eyes
this is why the texture and lettering matters
Gutenberg Bible to Family Bibles-ponderous
yet beautiful as King James' version
I return to places and people i love-as well as book and films
It reassures me that there is beauty beneath death ,war and economic madnesses
I will re-read you as soon as you complete
your life's works-your GREATEST HITS-
