From womb,we are sung to-stories,songs,poems
Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes with hidden messages
Fables via Aesop and La Fontaine to intrigue us
Disney pre-dated by spells,parables,enchantments
We absorb stories like grandfather time
Align ourselves with heroes like Odysseus,
Superman,Johnny Appleseed,Paul Bunyan-
all of whom walked in other times and spaces
sharing their deeds with lost generations.
In our day,we are different-human,not heroes
No Greek Gods make us Immortal-we have vampire weddings
Twilight sagas,horror movies and B grade fantasies
We have sex shops and drug deals,pubs and TV
All spill stories like beer over us,getting us wet for adventures
Spielberg Boys Own or Scorsese adult Boardwalk Empires
Pirates still resold as Johnny Depp and Keith Richards
Sagas told us via lovers,wives,friends,companions,enemies
All of which we forget and must relearn every day
Which is why we meditate in to mornings
awakened by the sound of more stories
being cooked in our very own kitchens...
