may we all be heard
words are bells
let them ring!

Celebrity coats with distance and demands
you be the one they used to love.Sing your Greatest Hit
even if you die from it.Repetition is an injury. Clone yourself
with tribute singers-others sing your past better than you now can
And every voice has a time span.USE BY date gone
Other Led Zeppelins,Beatles,ABBA,KISS,Michael Jacksons
will litter arenas with your work and words.You are in demand
when nostalgia resurrects/and all there is/ is 1991 and it is 2012.
Only goes once.One bite of the cherry. One slice of apple pie.American Idol!
You will be used to advertise .If you demur,your spurned public will backbite
Gossip stains your stage return.They demand their ticket price returned.
You are not the young one they replay on video and CD
You have aged,with deeper stories than some shallow romance
You have new words now-but they want only the old (young)you
Like young Elvis when he was Fat and 40.There are two of you now.
One will be killed by crowds turning away.The other must kill herself.
