may we all be heard
words are bells
let them ring!

HUNTER'S MOON

Every year,he hunts the deer
that becomes venison for our benison
I play pacifist vegetarian, admonishing ancient one
whose environmental damage is none
Hunter he,for company who come
to feast upon his success
If he arrived bare ,we would be bones here
A village of contention. He is aware
of wetlands preservation/pays hunting license
to preserve for future generations
and is willing to mount that 16 point deer head
upon the walls with all his previous victims.
We are made of meat.Hunting is ancient.
It still supplies a controlled outlet for anger
I know it seems unfair-spreading yellow corn out there
watching from a blind as deer feed within your range of fire
Yet deer have been displaced(we occupy their space)-
they breed like creatures in a cage.
Road kill-you will see  vultured bodies by highway side
Is it better then, for Zen-to make them into venison
and eat the problem in our seasonal sausage?
Or are we too far abattoired to see
that slaughterhouses become we-who do this to the deer
might do it to another human?
Just asking...
