Yet we have energy only for Neruda-our Pablo
who died @69 after receiving"medical treatment"
Thanks to Isabel Allende("House of the Spirits)
documentary film makers (Costas-Gavras)
and investigative journalists/all these tortured
and murdered are remembered.But not brought back to life
We read and re-read Neruda-for beauty,lyric and truth
725 others have only a name and a shortened life
We know of Victor Jara thanks to his wife
who toured the world to tell about the Junta torturing him
his saying-"as long as these hands can play this guitar
i shall sing for freedom".So they cut off his hands.
They tortured and raped students in the football stadium
They tracked down and jailed or killed all dissidents
At least 725 souls await justice.It will not come.
Forgiveness /compassion for their official murderers?
or an eased forgetfulness,knowing this will happen again..
