Holes in your city where cars rest cost the earth
Parking lots enforce collective irrationality
True solutions mean effective public transport
Solo cars nibble @the cheese w/mass transit lanes
yet each car moves little and demands much space and time
We cannot afford this .Irrational rules positing space for cars
have closed businesses and made profits for valet parkers.
Rich folk drop keys and cars and tip for gold space and time
Workers find no space they can afford for all day parking
and only car pool when parking costs exceed benefits
Pedestrian precincts as in villages are a start
Truck deliveries midnight to dawn
Bicycles and pedestrians positively welcomed
Free flow of traffic truncated by new priorities
The struggle for space is unresolved-in Austin,space is hard to find
Meters charge (if they are available) and prices rise
Until cities promote pedestrian access,expect to be charged more
To park on this planet is a luxury-never a right nor privilege
Ask any village.
