words are bells
let them ring!

CRAZY CALICO

She was the last one to be adopted at the cat shelter
No one wanted her and she was angry at every body
She glared like guns at us as we came close
We knew she would be the one(a challenge!
So we took her home/as she struggled
against her cardboard box all the way
She was and remains wild-prone to rushed runs
towards or away from the moon or fence or anyone
or anything that attracts or distracts her attention span
She has none. She ,shocked, did not know she was a cat
She did not know how to purr, nor relax.
Food and friendship provisionally covered her angry fears
She is still prone to scratch her way in or out of here
and climbs the fence and runs wild and free indoors or out
but now she feels secure with us.She sleeps on our clothes
She has even begun to purr. Her claws still scratch
Sharp warnings for anyone who comes too close
Her full food bowl does not stop her hunting birds
She brought a rat for inspection home -we thanked her
and she smiled away.TOOTS-our crazed calico
Moon owns her-she only stays with us today
