and his children's poems and stories are richer than diamonds
"A Child's Garden of Verses"has enchanted the young for generations
So when -at the Harry Ransom,a photograph of his face
staring intently into the camera/with deep dark mysterious eyes
I could not look away.His writings engage-yet this image stayed.
Aliveness lives when visual reminders of verbal skills compound
Now the words gain another power-his presence across time
on a wall in a Museum dedicated to image-when he was story,poem,song-
a novel approach to remembering visually,while we
recall Long John Silver ,pirates and parrots,skulls and crossbones
and see this word wizard in his full powers-staring directly at the camera
at us watching him.He long gone,while we
seem less in comparison/with Robert Louis Stevenson...
