days of innocence long gone-we know torture as"enhanced interrogation"
we see the pepper spraying of peaceful demonstrators/armored cars driving over civilians
casualty lists of us more than those of soldiers/meditation upon such murders diminishes
possibilities of change-both necessary and time delayed.Occupation was a 60's tactic-
to take over University offices and seek demands.Now the list extends indefinitely-
issues so diverse and deep no one statement can encompass.Gathering compounds us-
what starts as a private dream is shared sacrifice.800 arrested on Brooklyn Bridge
3000 killed in Cairo,1200 in Syria-add these up-each has a face ,a life,a family
99% a broad spectrum of all of us-each with a petition and a story
Listening expands us-like those human megaphones that amplify and simplify all spoken messages
We are learning by doing -as in this Arab Spring-an Austin Autumn
to meet outside our own Town Hall and learn what works to change us
It is not bullying,nor abuse,nor delegated politics
This is as direct as your own speech over prevailing silences
Every City has a gathering community.Come out and meet the others
What happens next is as unknown as our pasts..
At least we seek -a viable future...
