From slave chains to gold chains
From NWA to Presidential partying
From gangsta rap to bling bling
Young black males are buying lifestyles
via corporate tie-ins-walk Nike/drink Hennessey
walk Adidas/drink Courvoisier/wear Hilfiger
Corporate profiteers /priviteers/hand in Gucci glove
Jay-Z@Glastonbury-followed by Beyonce
Babies miming "Put a Ring on it" on YOUTUBE
AMERICAN GANGSTER merchandising
Little Britain responds with East End GRIME/London ROAD RAP/free DJs
I love THE STREETS with his spoken patois/
so reminescent of Brixton's LINTON KWESI JOHNSON
as much as corporate black rap's roots in THE LAST POETS
If we are consumer cattle, our only issue is branding
If we embrace the power of rap 's expressiveness
then mysogny and dollar signs will be replaced
with continuing rhythmic conversations
And that is priceless-with no tagging...
