may we all be heard
words are bells
let them ring!

BACK TO THE SEA(BLESSING THE WATERS)

We came from oceans-gills/fins to feet/hands
Now we go back-canoes/kayaks/slim/thin/slice between
Surfers in a hollow tube/on a bare plank
Pirates of Somalia, shrimpers o the Gulf
Blue Planet (seen from space)-water defines/divides/defies us
Divine Myths of waterworlds="On the first day..
"when the waters settled"/Noah on Mt Ararat
We go back.Sit by shorelines.Oilsoaked.
Beaches of Gaza.Submarines under icecaps.Titanics crack icebergs.
We need to hear that splash of wave/the time it takes
for time to stop and flow like tides beneath orchestra moon
Slap of wave on beach.Wind in face.Ancient Mariners each
Masts and sails to steam to nuclear-still the same seas beneath us
Sailors set out even when the world is GOOGLE mapped
Ulysses star chart astrologers constellations almanac
VOYAGERS into deep sea space still splash down
in a Pacific that is ,or Atlantic that deep-or some sea
with secrets older than Atlantis. We are water-seeking our own level
Something takes us down to Galveston,or Brighton,or Bribie
even when the waves are Lilliput or the sky is raining
Water calls us for its own.We slosh downhill
Pour like tributaries into the Universal Stream
River silver into the Golden Seas.O water womb
we will return...
