words are bells
let them ring!

THE SPEED OF CHANGE

Last night,we took the stereo speakers out-
tall cabinets from when we had bought them
from departing poet Sue Littleton
This morning gone like Tony Hayward
Oil is still spilling 97 days
heads roll like "that's how i roll"
when roleplay cannot distinguish between
symbolism and substance(Wall Street Journal July 26 P A7)
When torture pix of Abu Ghraib surface
Dick Cheney banned digital cameras
Coffins of killed veterans not allowed to be photographed
Wikileaks finally reveals deliberate targeting of journalists
FCC finally recognizes free speech over"indecent language"incidents
Still this censorship between us-
what we cannot say.Cancer.Death.Pain.Loss.
Hospital friends awaiting absent visiting.
Those we love,withdrawing.Nothing new here-
comparisons fail to convince.Visions still dream us
even when we are edited videos of hate speech.
Teachable moments await.Drop hate.love peace.
I am not speaking to you.I am reminding the war in me.
